Set Your Mind and Keep It Set

Set Your Mind

Today’s Scripture: Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. (Colossians 3:2 NIV)

The word “set” means to become fixed; as something that has hardened. We are to set our minds on things above and not on earthly things while having a permanent focus. Heaven and earth cannot be followed together. For where the mind goes the man is sure to follow.

Where you set your mind will determine your direction. You will either follow the flesh or the Spirit. Spiritually speaking, those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh. Those who live according to the Spirit set their minds and hearts on the things of the Spirit. Set your affections on the things above and not on earthly things. For where your treasures are there your heart will be (Matt. 6:21).

The best things are above and our conversation should be heavenly. We are to value heavenly things and set our affections on them. If you be risen with Christ seek those things which are above where Christ sits on the right hand of God. You have a new life in Christ. Therefore, let the word of Christ dwell richly in you which was also in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:8 instructs us on the things that are in line with right thinking. We are to think on whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable, whatever is excellent, and whatever is praiseworthy.

Whatever you have Scripturally learned put into practice. These are all keys which lead to godly living. Take one step at a time, pray for guidance, read and meditate on the Word of God. Set your mind and keep it set, and let Jesus be the Lord of your life.

May the peace of God transcend your understanding and guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus.

Bountiful blessings from me to you.
