I Know It Was The Blood

PhotoGrid_1405819428369Today’s Scripture: Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body, (1 Cor. 6:19-20 NIV).

Our bodies have been redeemed from condemnation by the atoning sacrificial work of Christ. The blood of Jesus is the expression of his death and full atoning work on the Cross. The blood of Christ paid the ransom due to God for the remission of man’s sins. Mark 10:45 records the Lord Himself declaring the reason that he came. He came to give his life as a ransom for many. There is no atonement for sins or forgiveness of sins without the shedding of blood (Heb. 9:22).

Christ’s blood met the requirements of the Law that the continual animal sacrifices could not suffice in the Old Testament. God required animal sacrifices to provide a temporary covering of sins. This was a foreshadowing of the perfect and complete sacrifice of Jesus Christ (Lev. 4:35, 5:10).  The blood of bulls and goats were a reminder to the people of their sins. Unlike the blood of Christ, which cleanses, forgives, and washes sin away forever. The entire work of redemption is forever complete (Heb. 9:12).

Salvation is a free gift to us, but it costs Jesus Christ everything to redeem us. Our bodies are temples and with our temples we must honor God. We were bought with a price, but not with corruptible things like silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Jesus (1 Peter 1:18).

The Lord Jesus’ blood ransomed us out of the hands of satan. We are free from the power of satan, sin, and from the slavery. Demons tremble at the mention of the power of the blood, all of hell gets nervous, and satan can’t stand to hear it whenever we talk about the blood. The blood has miraculous wonder-working power. The blood connects us to God and keeps us centered. We are free to serve God and to glorify His name.

We now reside under a new Covenant, born anew, we are new creations in Christ Jesus (2 Cor. 5:17). Christ obligated himself to punishment in exchange for our sin debt. Being united to Christ as one spirit, and bought with a price of unspeakable value, we are not our own, we have been purchased with the shed blood of Jesus. Christ having borne the curse of our sin, freed us from it sin and we are made righteous in Christ by His blood. Therefore, glorify God with your bodies and with your conversations. With this God is well pleased.

What can wash away our sins? Nothing but the precious blood of Jesus!

Bountiful Blessings to you!
