As A Man Thinks, So Is He

Scripture: “For as he thinketh in His heart, so is he.” (Proverb 23:7a KJV)

The heart is the inner core of a person. Our thoughts dictate who we become. Likewise, the mind of a man reflects who he is. A man’s thoughts, feelings, desires, and choices make him who he really is. That is why God looks at the heart of man and not his outward appearance (1 Sam. 16:7).

We must think positive thoughts. Thoughts are powerful, and they have creative abilities. Unfortunately, many unhappy, unfulfilled Christians busy themselves trying to fulfill their own desires instead of patiently waiting for God to give them their hearts desires. Proverbs 16:25 tells us that there is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end, it is the way of death. According to Proverbs 4:18, we are to direct our thoughts toward things that are pure, lovely, true, noble, right, admirable, and praiseworthy.

First Corinthians 2:16 says that we have the mind of Christ, which means that we’re able to think godly thoughts. We should examine our thoughts, and if they don’t line up with God’s Word, the Apostle Paul tells us to cast down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ, 2nd Corinthians 10:5. We are to take control of our thoughts and replace wrong thinking with godly thinking. We transform our thinking by renewing the mind.

As a believer, transform your thinking by spending time reading your Bible and seeking various options of Christian base materials. Feeding your mind positive information promotes a healthy outlook on life. Trust the Holy Spirit to lead you. He will order your steps without hindrances. Don’t let your mind lead you where you don’t want to go, seek God’s way of doing things. Live in dependency upon the Holy Spirit and seek His strength through prayer. His power is available to you. Let the peace of God rule in your heart and mind in Christ Jesus.
